Alternative bouquet options

Are you looking for alternative bouquet options other than the same old BORING floral bouquets? Here are some posts from the Offbeat Bride site that talks about alternative bouquets that range from feathers to seashells! There really is no end to the creative possibilities! =3

If you want to stand out from the rest of the brides, DIY your own bouquet by purchasing a felt button set. One thing about Singaporean brides though. :/ They're not quite as adventurous as the foreign ones. If you look at the local weddings, most of them just consist of the ROM and the wedding banquet. And even the wedding banquets are run of the mill affairs that are truly yawn-worthy. Like seriously, I give a large angbao just to be bored to tears by all the lovey dovey photo montages and the long waiting between my food courses. ZZZZZ...

Buying or renting a yukata for your wedding~

In Singapore, we rarely get to see shops selling Japanese items like yukatas or whatnots. Yes, there are stores that carry a line of yukatas and their accessories but due to our really hot weather, it's not really practical to get one anyways. BUT what if you want one to wear for your pre-wedding photoshoot or a theme that you want your guests to follow during your wedding banquet, there're a few ways you can get them. =3

BLOGSHOPS

Nothing but Japan: This is another blogshop that carries Japanese clothes and items. You can order your yukatas and getas here as well. =3

PHYSICAL SHOPS

Japan Vintage: a shop selling second hand yukatas and kimonos that is near the end of Haji Lane (the nearest MRT will be Bugis, just walk in the direction of the Raffles Medical Centre). The prices range from $25 onwards but bear in mind, the clothing are second hand and could have some stains or defects. However, I did get a decent kimono robe (in picture) from there for $20 (bargained a little with the shop owner's assistant). =3

If you don't mind browsing through dusty clothing, there's a good chance you can find a really great bargain. Just bear in mind that they don't really carry Obis (the sash you use to hold your yukata in place) so you'll need to get them somewhere else. Just check out the detail on my kimono robe! Gorgeous, isn't it? =3

Haru Yukata: Haru carries all kinds of Japanese wear to suit any taste and the best thing of all, she's located at Far East Plaza and *Scape where you can browse through the different yukatas for sale. If you want affordable new yukata, Haru may just be your answer. =)

RENTAL

かほう屋: The webmistress of this site has a big collection of Japanese clothing that is starting to burst her wardrobe. To counter this problem, she decided to rent her yukatas etc to people who just wanna have fun but don't want to go to the trouble of getting one. So if you have a wedding party that you want a yukata for, Ms yukikahou may just be your answer. =)

TheWearHouse: Another avenue for you to rent costumes! They carry not just yukatas but other costumes from different cultures too! XDDD

These are the few that I've personally browsed through. Hope you like my recommendations! =3 Will blog more if I find more!

A walk in the park

Have you ever watched Bride Wars? Liv (Kate Hudson) and Emma (Anne Hathaway) are two brides who want to get married in THE PLAZA but disaster strikes when their wedding planner's assistant made a mistake and booked the same day at THE PLAZA for their wedding dates.

You'll probably think..."so what's the big deal?" At most, one could have a wedding reception where both ladies get married at the same time! That would truly be a celebration of their friendship, right?

Wrong. Liv and Emma each want their own special wedding and they both want to be at each other's wedding as maid of honour. So one of them has got to make a decision and change their wedding date to three years later. Of course, both of them being strong-willed women, they each refuse to budge. =x

Have you ever had that kind of situation before? Actually personally speaking, I wouldn't mind sharing a wedding day with my bestie. =3

So what was your wedding venue? Was it indoors or outdoors? It doesn't matter what your wedding venue was, as long as you and your husband-to-be are comfortable with it. =3

Other than hotels and restaurants, where can you hold your own special wedding? You can hold it at parks of course. NParks have a variety of locations for you to hold beautiful nature weddings. Of course, it might be a tad hot but hey, it's something unique, right? For more information, you can refer to the official website at NParks. There is even a buggy service if you plan to hold your wedding photo shoot in Botanic Gardens. =3

Have you ever held a wedding in the parks? If so, do share your opinions here with us!
